A show talk about the exhibition Silent Spring, with SIM Residency artist Hertta Kiiski and Katrina Elvarsdóttir, Lilja Birgisdóttir, together with curator Daria Sól Andrews. The exhibition was opened on Saturday 18 January, as part of the Icelandic Photography Festival.
At Silent Spring, Lilja, Hertta, and Katrin evoke sweet and warm feelings towards our natural environment, which is poorly neglected and stands on the brink of destruction. In the hope of gaining timely respect for the delicate state of the deteriorating world, they focus on the beauty of the find, which is thus able to undergo a renewal of life. Faced with global warming, these three artists use both the photographic medium and a more sensitive, material approach to an environment that needs equal attention and care.
