The Misplacement Bureau

The Misplacement Bureau maps the intersection of Reykjavík’s bureaucratic time and Iceland’s deep ecological time. Working across painting, sound, field photographs, rust transfers, and found objects, the project tracks edges and enclosures—bus stops, container walls, fences—where regulation meets weather, geology, and decay. Paintings hold waiting space; photographs collect signs and closures; rust transfers register oxidation as an institutional “skin”; a brief sound strand keeps studio labour audible. Together, the five works sketch a slow typology of oversight and entropy: ordinary scenes under administrative measure and environmental drift.
