Tempered Mirage

Critical and curious about mechanical rhythms adopted by humans, Alex explores the material imprint human-made items have on subconscious movement patterns and the process of archiving images in memory. She has recently been thinking about optics and perception with a critical eye on constructed or designed experiences and our desire for an HD memory.

By moving in, out, and between the dyad of supernatural and hyper-technological spaces, this project questioned hallucinations or mind-pops that might appear while navigating on harrowing journeys in the wilderness (whether natural, human-made, or imagined). The project questioned if/how these organic messengers of sleep can resist mechanization.
