Squish is a vertical video work depicting a hand caressing a bulbous growth of algae, constantly slathered by geothermal water. When touched, the algae briefly holds a fingerprint before plumping back up. Atmospheric sound design is by fellow resident Sabina Oțelea. The work was exhibited with a soft sculptural controller – a silicone-covered crochet pebble encasing a force-sensitive resistor. When gently squeezed, the video played. When released, it paused.
