This is a book about Hampiðjan - an Icelandic net maker and ropes manufacturer. The fishing industry is an integral part of the community and economy in Iceland, but rarely
do we think or contemplate the tools used. Traditionally, women were
very much involved in the fishing industry; they worked for net making workshops throughout the country.
I visited Hampiðjan - one of the few surviving net makers in Iceland. I used a combination of photos and illustrations in this book. Using several printing methods: [letterpress, offset, and riso] across three presses/ studios. I used readily available materials; for example, if there was a color not currently available in the Icelandic market - I picked the closest color available.
