DIVIDEDby2

DIVIDEDby2 is a textile and fashion project transforming second-hand ballgowns into non-binary eveningwear through crochet and knitting. By unraveling traditional garments into yarn scrap, the work reimagines binary dress codes and challenges rigid body-shaping structures. The project explores social elasticity—how identity stretches beyond convention. The soft, handmade textures contrast the stiffness of traditional eveningwear by deconstructing the the layers of fabric shaping bodies to look a certain way. The underlying structures like bonings and paddings are removed to highlight how socially shaped our ideals truly are. DIVIDEDby2 speaks to a future where garments embrace rather than restrict, and adapt to rather than shape the body.
